Last summer, AGCVT discovered that one of the most effective tools for talking about jobsite safety wasn’t found in a manual; it was in a freezer.

Scoops for Safety brought Island Homemade Ice Cream to jobsites across Vermont and used it as a simple, fun way to spark safety conversations. The crews were more than happy to pause, cool off, and talk about working smart and staying safe.

The feedback was clear: safety discussions felt more approachable, crews felt appreciated, and the message stuck. Island Homemade Ice Cream turned out to be a great reminder that safety culture is built on connection, not just compliance.

As AGCVT Safety Director Ben Osha put it, “If ice cream helps start better safety conversations, then it’s already doing its job.”

This summer, Scoops for Safety is going back for a Scoops 2. We’ll be hitting the road again to visit member jobsites, share updated safety resources, and, of course, deliver Island Homemade Ice Cream along the way.
