Many in the industry are, rightly, proud of the tremendous accomplishments contractors have made in improving the safety of their jobsites. But nobody will be satisfied until we get to a point where this industry is free from fatalities and workplace injuries.”
A crane collapses in Seattle, killing four. A pedestrian bridge falls in Miami, and six are killed. A road worker is killed by a speeding motorist in Mobile, Alabama. These and other tragic events that occur all too frequently with our industry offer a stark reminder that when we talk about construction safety, we aren’t talking about statistics or theoretical risks – we are talking about lives.
