The Director of Engineering is responsible for development and implementation of capital projects and programs to the Champlain Water District treatment, transmission, and storage systems, including major maintenance, replacement, or infrastructure improvements.
 
A few of the functions of the role are:

• Manage specific programs critical to effective emergency management and response, employee training, and safety.
• Manage or assist in the oversight of large annual capital programs including, but not limited to the tank maintenance and improvement program, filter and clarifier maintenance and rebuild program, energy savings account, asset management program, pipe integrity program, etc.
• Conduct, supervise, and review professional engineering design services relative to water systems planning, operation, maintenance, and improvements, for the Champlain Water District and for any projects that may impact the Champlain Water District’s system.
• Develop, review, and certify technical construction documents, drawings and specifications.
• Provide technical reports and recommendations as requested by the General Manager and/or the Board of Commissioners.
• Supervise the Project Engineer and Transmission Engineer.
