Heavy Construction Estimator/Project Manager
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years estimating/project managing experience in heavy-civil construction projects; earthwork, sewer, water, and drainage utilities, and road construction. Project estimating experience is a must and knowledge of local construction methods is a plus. Duties include take-off, estimating, project scheduling and submittals, material purchases and deliveries, crew and equipment coordination, project execution, project billing, and project closeout. Will also work with customers/vendors/municipalities to schedule projects, provide quality control, and manage project logistics. Most work is local, but may include some larger projects in the Northern Vermont region, so some travel is likely. College education in construction management or civil engineering is preferred.
Applicants should be computer literate with knowledge of construction job costing and construction estimating software and methods. Ability to communicate effectively with owner, customers, vendors, other contractors, office staff, crew leaders, and general laborers is essential.
Responsibilities include:
-Familiarity with modern construction software & processes
-Developing new business opportunities and expanding current client relationships
-Doing plan take-offs for civil projects and preparing estimates
-Job scheduling, tracking and budgeting
-Computing excavation and fill volumes using InSite or similar software
-Implementing digital terrain models for use with in-house layout and machine control
-Understanding civil construction materials, methods, and processes
-Manage field changes (change orders)
-Assessing site characteristics and construction risks & exposures
-Ability to read & implement plans, do project layout, and make necessary adjustments
-Ability to communicate effectively with customers, crew members, owner, office staff, and subcontractors
Salary commensurate with experience, starting at $60,000. Bonus structure possible.
