Mark your calendars for December 6-7. That’s when AGC/VT’s annual meeting and awards ceremony returns. For the second straight year, the association will offer a hybrid program, giving members and construction professional the chance to join virtually or in-person.

“Last year was the first time we held a virtual and in-person event,” said Richard Wobby, AGC/VT’s executive vice president. “When we pivoted our training programs to a hybrid format, our attendance numbers skyrocketed, and it was the same with our annual meeting. We almost doubled our normal attendance numbers. People seemed to love the flexibility, plus we could attract more presenters too.”

Building off the momentum from last year’s event, the AGC/VT team has already begun crafting a stellar line-up of top-tier national, New England, and Vermont-based speakers to present on the most pressing issues. Congressman Peter Welch, who is expected to become Vermont’s next Senator has been invited. Governor Phil Scott will likely participate as he has in previous years.

And this year, Katie Thomson from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Division has been invited to explain how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be implemented. This is the most significant infusion of investment in our infrastructure since the Interstate Highway System in the mid-1950s. The law provides market opportunities for transportation contractors, heavy contractors, building contractors, and utility contractors, and Thompson will  look at the opportunities, impact, and workforce issues that contractors can expect.
